Super Mario Party: Another Upcoming Occasion For The Nintendo Switch

Mamma mia! The plumber wearing a red hat, his brother, his friends and his foes are going to throw yet another party in October 2018 [15]. There were a few hints of the developers aiming to revert the craze of Mario Party back to its original roots at E3 2018 [1] [4]. This could mean that the sudden devolution of the search for stars can help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first main Mario Party instalment from December 1998 and early 1999 [9]. However, the party for the Switch shall consist of some elements from the newer Mario Party games in order to appeal to the younger Nintendo nerds within the current generation of gaming [15]. After another period of young ones finding Mario toys in happy meals at McDonald’s [16] [17], Mario and his friends shall once again try to gather as many stars as possible in order to be crowned as “The Superstar”.

The Super Mario Party logo. [6]
The way how Super Mario Party will set the gameplay back to its turn-based and linear ways without all of the competitors travelling across the board together in one vehicle will be great news for those who especially grew up with the original trilogy from the Nintendo 64 days and the Gamecube era of Mario Party [1] [4] [10] [15]. There will be some boards that consist of the non-linear style for the fans of the current era of Mario Party [10]. Each playable character will have their own dice block, which is a feature from Toad Scramble Mode in Mario Party: Star Rush as an example of how the developers aimed to combine the current era of Mario Party with the previous eras of Mario Party [4] [5] [11]. It is interesting how the eras of Mario Party shall collide into one game for the Switch, Nintendo’s most advanced and impressive console yet.

Gameplay footage of the demo of Super Mario Party. [15]
Some positive potential of the gameplay already stood out at E3 2018, according to Nintendo Treehouse, a group of fellow Nintendo fans [1] [4] [5]. Holding the right joy-con quite tightly and punching the air upwards in order to make the chosen party guest hit a dice block might give each player the feeling of hitting a question mark block like how Mario and Luigi would in their main adventures [4]. The demo at E3 2018 seemed to have already given some items to the lucky volunteers who showed up at the time [4], so that there will be some awareness of how those items will benefit the player’s experience in the full version of the game, especially in the main party mode. And let us not forget that an event will occur once a competitor stops at a green space, which has been quite a dramatic aspect of the main party mode since the first main Mario Party game [1] [4] [5]. Once the full version of the game arrives on the market, the Mario partyers who are planning to buy it might as well aim to feel like superstars once again as they experience the familiar, yet refreshing aspects of the main gameplay.

The start of the game introduces a new way of hitting the dice block that is very similar to how Mario and Luigi would hit a question mark block. [4]
There are some aspects that made the main gameplay in the Mario Party series thrilling that could be seen in the demo of Super Mario Party [1] [4]. Once again, the variety of items, including a Fly Guy Ticket and a Buddy Phone shall allow the player to occasionally bend the rules against another competitor [1] [4] [15]. Let us hope the Golden Drink that will turn the player into solid gold will taste good [15]. The ally system, a feature that was also introduced in Mario Party: Star Rush can also benefit the player’s gameplay progress in the Super Mario Party demo [11] [15]. Once you get your hands on a full copy in late 2018, feel free to buy an item from a Flutter to increase your chance of getting the most stars [1] [4] [15]. The aspects of challenging the rules of the main party mode that have been shown in the demo further enhance the likely success of Super Mario Party for staying loyal to what made the Mario Party series successful throughout almost two decades [10].

What a trendy looking device! Could it be the Mushroom Kingdom equivalent to the real world’s iPhone? [1]
That will be three golden coins, big guy. [15]
Of course, what would a Mario Party be without fierce competition in many different locations? One example of a minigame in Super Mario Party that is shown in the official E3 2018 trailer seems like a quirky rehash of Tanks from Wii Play [2] [6]. There are whole new minigames that involve connecting two Switch tablets together, which is an interesting concept with a practical outcome that further enhances the ambitions of the Switch [1] [4] [5] [6]. For example, both tablets will show one half of a banana and it would be up to a player to put them together and swipe their finger across both screen once the banana is complete [1] [4]. And of course, there is nothing like one competitor going against a team of three, even if it involves trying to steal packages [4]. By the power of consistent motion controls and a new control method for enhancing the current generation of Nintendo, every new minigame should hopefully be quite enjoyable for their playability, as well as their signs of individuality once the game is released for those who did not try the demo out at E3.
Isn’t this a remarkable concept being brought into action? [4]
Another minigame that involves two Switch tablets being linked together. [5]
Looks like some new competitors will be invited to the craze as well. Pom Pom, who debuted in Super Mario 3D Land with Boom Boom might as well show Wendy O. Koopa how partying as a female koopa is done [13]. At least the Monty Mole would refrain from deceitfully cheating by not throwing rocks or burrowing underground [12]. And last but not least, the ordinary goomba will not need hands to hit a dice block [15]. And perhaps the player’s Mii can be a guest as well? Ah, the good old days of partying in Mario Party 8, when a Mii would wear the usual plumber attire and be a complete mute [3]. It may seem weird to witness Bowser as a playable competitor once again, but at least he might be on his best behaviour in a slightly out-of-character manner, similar to how he competed in Mario Party 4, Mario Party 10 and Mario Party Star Rush [11]. As the eras of Mario Party from the previous 3D game consoles created by Nintendo are somehow combined with the current era [1] [4] [5] [15], the old and new guests shall do their very best to get the most stars.

Stand aside, Wendy and Hammer Bro! [13]
Goomba can somehow steadily ride a tricycle without any hands! [15]
The exciting thing about Super Mario Party for all of the worshipers of Princess Peach, otherwise known as Princess Toadstool is that it will be marked as her 100th official appearance in a video game [14]. The pretty princess in pink has appeared in more games than any other female character throughout the entire history of gaming since her debut in 1985 [14], so there is no wonder that her 100th appearance will be celebrated by her loyal fanbase. Do you think she might have made some cake for Mario and the other party guests while she was in another castle? Or has the cake already been baked for her as a reminder of her 100th appearance? Either way, let us hope that her royal highness will enjoy the celebration. After all, she has been Mario’s presumed sweetheart for over three decades.

Princess Peach has made it this far from her debut in 1985. [14]
Remember 2013 being referred as “The Year of Luigi”? Well, perhaps 2018 could be The Year of Peach since Super Mario Party will be her 100th appearance. [15]
After almost twenty years of competitors buying stars and hitting dice blocks, Super Mario Party could be a splendid example of how a game would revert back to its original roots with a few modern elements [1] [4] [15]. Even though compiling several memories from each main Mario Party instalment from every era of 3D Nintendo games into one 3DS game seemed like a wonderful opportunity for a closure in late 2017 [10], I suppose that there would still be plenty of room for another incredible instalment, as long as the developers at Nintendo maintain that creativity and reliability that could last and stay fresh up to a possible Mario Party 64. After all, the Mario Party series still holds the record for the longest-running minigame series in the history of gaming and it might as well keep that record for a long, long time [10]. If you would like to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Mario Party series, then Super Mario Party might be the way to witness an outstanding celebration.

Let’s-a play in late-a 2018! [15]

The Sims’ Worth Of Being Mobilised Lives On In The Sims Mobile

Sul sul once again, fellow gamers! One month ago, The Sims Mobile eventually became a worldwide life-simulating freebie after settling in Brazil, Spain and Australia [12]. Many simmers who got into it must have enjoyed partying at those splendid parties, buying new clothes for their sims, witnessing a small variety of relationships and watching the results of a risky action during an event [2] [12]. And yes, during one of the special events in the market square, they got to listen to an awesome simlish rock song. It is an example of a passable spin-off of The Sims franchise with convincing graphics and precise life-simulation gameplay [2]. The Sims Mobile, the supposed lovechild of The Sims Social and The Sims FreePlay has shown us how The Sims for mobile devices has evolved since the port of The Sims 2 for 2G and 3G mobile phones from 2006 [5] [11].

The Sims Mobile loading screen. [2]
My female sim singing a simlish rock song. [2]
A sim can eventually retire once the player’s experience reaches Level 16 [2]. The best time to retire a sim would be if a simmer gets tired of the option to do so being occasionally shoved in their face. Once a sim is ready to retire and no longer be playable after becoming an elder, he or she will leave a glorious box behind [2]. While it is heart-breaking to no longer be able to play as a sim who retired, at least enabling the retirement at any time will reward the player with an Heirloom that was in the box. If a simmer suddenly regrets retiring their beloved sim, the replacement can always be a clone of the retired sim instead of a fully grown offspring. Repeating the cycle can help the player expand their MySims character cameo collection, along with the variety of personality traits that the next playable sims can have [2]. Every cloud has a silver lining.

My female sim elaborates on the positive aspects of retiring the first generation of sims. [2]

My female sim elaborates on the positive aspects of retiring the first generation of sims. [2]
Holy smokes Ratticator! A box that contains an Heirloom can be given to the player if an elderly sim passes away in the eariler version of The Sims Mobile [6]. If an elderly sim’s life has not really been that fulfilling, he or she would simply shrug it off and move on in a cheery deposition, compared to how an elderly sim will desperately try and turn the Grim Reaper’s hourglass when their time is up and their aspiration meter is low in The Sims 2. Letting an elderly sim pass away in The Sims Mobile would at least add to the form of realism that The Sims has progressed since the Sims 2 era [6] [8]. Perhaps in a future update, there could be another way of earning Heirlooms that can make the progress of catching them all slightly more progressive, especially for those who would like to see how many MySims characters are in the app as cool cameos. Looks like the Grim Reaper will always be essential in The Sims, whether he did woohoo with another sim or not [8] [9].

If an elderly sim’s life has been fantastically fulfilling, the best character development of the Grim Reaper will be shown in an earlier version of the app. [6]

The way of earning an Heirloom might have been changed in a previous update of the app, which is why my elderly sims are still alive, unless there will eventually be a sign of their upcoming deaths in the current version. [2]
Again, trying to complete any of the twenty-nine stories is rather time-consuming. Despite this, at least a story’s progress that has been completed by a retired sim shall remain completed, even if a new sim within the new generation is repeating it as they follow the retired sim’s footsteps [2]. The green closed book icon that indicates a completed story is further proof and stays there after the next generation of sims arrives of the small form of challenge being at least fair for our fellow simmers. Maybe in a future update, there might be a new unique hobby, career or relationship story that will keep the aspect of developing a story fresh. There will always be a chance to fully complete a story, as long as the player allows the generation cycle to gradually continue in The Sims Mobile, even though the option to make a playable sim grow into a non-playable elder is optional.

One of the relationship chapters was completed by the previous generation of my sims before they retired. [2]
If you thought the price for a third playable sim was too big, the price for a fourth playable sim is even more outrageous [2]. 515 Simcash dollars! Despite the more expensive price for a fourth household member, it should not be a big deal for those who are okay with only playing as two sims and those who have waited long enough to get 175 Simcash dollars without spending any real-life currency for a third playable sim. The earned SimCash can always be spent on rushing events, household items, and stylish clothes if a player does not want to go through another period of patience that would be even longer. Alternatively, there’s always the option to get enough SimCash more efficiently by paying with real-life credit. In the United Kingdom, £9.99 for 600 Simcash dollars is a pretty decent deal [2]. Ultimately, it is up to the player if they would like more than two sims in their household.

515 Simcash dollars for a fourth playable sim. Really? [2]
Aside from the Freezer Bunny and the Social Bunny from the main Sims games [7] [10], there are cute pink bunny stickers that expand on The Sims Mobile’s cred [2]. Believe it or not, giving a sticker to at least three sims with a blue plumbob above each of them is on every single daily to do list. At least it would be worth it for two Fashion Gems if a simmer would like a new quirky clothing item from Izzy. Giving out stickers to other sims seems to be another sign of the app’s individuality, as well as a sign of the Freezer Bunny’s legacy [7]. New bunny stickers with different expressions and attire will come out about every week or so, which might make some simmers think that they could be the Sims equivalent of emojis [2]. The quirky stickers that resemble cute pink rabbits with a variety of expressions and attire might perk up the simmers who got annoyed at their furniture suddenly breaking.

Here you go, sweetcheeks. Have a bunny sticker! [2]
The app may still occasionally show off some goofs, such as a smartphone being stuck to a sim’s hand [2]. At least the bodies of the sims in a hot tub do not stretch across the household in my data anymore. That glitch might not have been good news for some people with photosensitive epilepsy. There are some moments when the two sims who are actually in a romantic relationship will actually woohoo together. Aside from the annoying hot tub time glitch being officially wiped out, one time in my data, the second generation’s toddler was completely invisible while being babysat by my third playable sim. The cute little rascal must have been pretending to be a friendly ghost or something. With hope and diligence, the developers of the app can ensure that the game will remain less glitchy for our fellow simmers. But nevertheless, since only a few silly glitches do not make a game unplayable, the gameplay remains untainted [2].

An invisible toddler being babysat by a third playable sim. [2]
A perfect woohoo scene, Much better than the boring standing up woohoo in The Sims FreePlay. [2]
Overall, for the rest of 2018, plenty of our fellow simmers may still go with the non-linear flow in the newest spin-off of The Sims. With the option to link the data with a Facebook account and check out the sims created by Facebook friends, The Sims Mobile is sure to be known as the spiritual successor of The Sims Social. Some mobile gamers out there might be thinking that The Sims FreePlay is so last lustrum, but it still seems quite relevant for its players with update after update, along with a new logo that replaced that original one in 2015 [1] [3] [4]. The same may apply for The Sims Mobile a few years later, as long as there will be updates that will add slight improvements and new aspects in order to prevent the app’s legacy from going stale. Dag dag…until I write again, gamers.

And this concludes another article. [2]

Mario Will Soon Park His Kart Outside Of The Nintendo Switch

Mario Kart Tour is an upcoming mobile app that will be Nintendo’s second official Super Mario mobile game and fifth official mobile app overall sometime between April 2018 and March 2019 [3] [18]. After it was announced towards the end of January 2018, many fellow Mario Kart racers and Nintendo nerds began having their hopes and expectations [3]. Let’s face it. Mobile gaming has become more appealingly progressive, compared to how it was during the days of flip phones and slide phones. Since Nintendo’s fiscal year shall end sometime next year [3] [18], there is plenty of time to hope that kart racing with the iconic Super Mario characters on Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android will turn out to be as thrilling as kart racing with them on the arcade machines that were developed with the help of Bandai Namco Entertainment, the company that was previously known as “Namco Bandai Games” [14] [17].

The Mario Kart Tour logo. Looks pretty promising. [18]
Maybe the control system for the outcome of Mario Kart Tour ought to be quite similar to the control system of the ports of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed for iOS and Android [1] [2] [11] [12] [13]. Or could it be similar Angry Birds Go! for the same platforms [10]? The option to tilt the smartphone or tablet in order to steer the selected character’s kart would give the player quite a realistic feeling of steering a kart’s wheel [2], similar to how someone who adored playing Mario Kart Wii would gain a realistic feeling of driving a kart with the Wii Wheel attachment [7] [17] [19].  Alternatively, some players may prefer an icon for steering the kart that can be dragged by a thumb or simply two left and right buttons while the kart is accelerating automatically [1] [2] [10]. Perhaps for a variety of mobile gamers who adore racing games, there might be more than one way of steering the kart in the right direction when Mario Kart Tour eventually parks at the App Store and Google Play Store.

Two optional control systems in Sonic and SEGA All-Stars racing for modern mobile devices. Something that Nintendon't? Not for long. [13]
In addition to a comfortable way of steering the selected character’s kart, a button to drift and a button to hit the brake could be practically placed within the HUD; perhaps at one of the bottom left corners of it [1] [2] [13]. Oh, and don’t forget about an icon that will activate an item from a shattered item box. Darn those blue shells. There might be a possibility that the developers will choose to let the kart accelerate automatically, so that there will be no need for a button to accelerate [10]. As long as the final design of the HUD turns out to be as practical and useful as the ones from the previous Mario Kart instalments [4] [5] [6] [7], the competitive spirit in the player would remain motivated. Hopefully, during or after Nintendo’s fiscal year, the developers at Nintendo would have carefully followed the five elements of user experience in order to make Mario Kart Tour faithful to what made the Mario Kart series memorable, including excellent controls and a very useful HUD [4] [5] [6] [7].

The HUD in Mario Kart Wii. [19]
Throughout the years, one of the ways that Mario Kart progressed was welcoming new competitors onto the tracks. It would be nice to let Birdo and Diddy Kong be unlockable racers again to make up for their absences from Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8 [4] [5]. Since Pauline, Mario’s original love interest made her grand return in Super Mario Odyssey as the mayor of New Donk City, Mario Kart Tour could be her first time as a kart racer [20]. If Metal Mario, Gold Mario and Pink Gold Peach ought to be unlockable for an update after the app’s release, they would be better off as skins for our main man and his blonde beauty in order to save some room in the roster for more of the Super Mario spin-off crew. As usual, the game could begin with a small selection of the loveable classic Mario characters that were licenced to race in karts since Super Mario Kart from 1992 [18].

Honestly, the lovely and talented mayor of New Donk City deserves a chance to be a kart racer. [20]
Similar to how bird coins can be collected in Angry Birds Go! during a whacky race with those adorable and quirky birds [10], the traditional coins that Mario and Luigi collect on their quests to save Princess Peach could be the in-game currency that the player can collect during a race [4] [5] [6] [15]. In addition to this, a large amount of them can be earned, depending on the position the player finishes in. Well, it would be no surprise if our fellow Mario Kart racers discover a group of microtransaction offers for more in-game currency. Even though there were a list of challenges to do in order to successfully unlock more karts and characters in the 3D main Mario Kart instalments [7] [17], there would need to be some legitimate way that Nintendo can possibly make money from the app’s outcome. In-game currency that can be collected, earned and used to purchase more karts and characters could still be another way of making each experience of Mario Kart on the tracks rewarding.

Red, his allies and some of those devious pigs can gather a few bird coins in Angry Birds Go!, which could be like how coins can be collected in Mario Kart Tour. [10]
There ought to be a few things added to the mobile adaption of Mario Kart that can further increase its individuality. Of course, one shining example would be brand new courses for the Mushroom Cup, Flower Cup, Star Cup and Special Cup. It would be lovely if at least one of the locations of Super Mario Odyssey could be adapted into a whole new course, especially New Donk City [8]. There could also be a new vocal song for the app’s final outcome sung by Pauline’s new voice actress, Kate Higgins since she can sing beautifully [8] [16] [20]. After all, Super Mario Odyssey’s outcome seemed like a new era for Super Mario, along with the success of Super Mario Run for iOS and Android enhancing Nintendo’s mobile app cred [8] [9]. We are yet to discover what the app’s final outcome will proudly present. There is still plenty of time for our fellow Nintendo nerds and Mario Kart racers to hope and predict.

New Donk City would make a wonderful new racing course. The starting/finish line could be right at the entrance of its city hall. [20]
In conclusion, it would be best if the first Mario Kart instalment for third-party smart devices would only be classified as a spin-off of the Mario Kart franchise. That way our fellow Mario Kart racers will know that developing games mainly and exclusively for the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS for the rest of the current generation of gaming is still Nintendo’s game. Perhaps there is still room in our hearts for the magnificent deluxe port of Mario Kart 8 that welcomed the Inklings to the tracks [6]. With the ability to technically balance the appeal of the Switch’s legacy with the approval from a new part of their audience, Nintendo could successfully offer an opportunity to delightfully succeed in a Grand Prix with the plumber in red, his allies and his foes outside of their first-party platforms, along with helping the ambitious Switch maintain its popularity.
