Some Newer Horizons In Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise

Once again, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a wonderful coping mechanism for many animal crossers during the next set of lockdowns in the coronavirus pandemic, along with its continuation after restrictions were concluded [34]. The same noble honour goes to the events of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp that occurred this year, much like its events throughout the last one [16]. I recall seeing a lot of potential in New Horizons when the first trailer for it was released back in mid-2019 [32] [33]. After starting on its initial release in March 2020, the experience gradually evolved with update after update throughout the seasons [25]. Not only will there soon be the last free content update for the game referred to as “Version 2.0” [15], but also a paid expansion which is exactly what it sounds like if you have ever played Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer [13] [17] [18] [22] [24]. These forthcoming surprises are sure to shine especially on the brand new OLED model of the Nintendo Switch when it comes to truly moving on from the terrors of 2020 [19] [21]. As much as I adore the adorable crossover between Hello Kitty and Pusheen [7] [8] [9] [10] [28], I am delighted to express my thoughts on the next chapter of the fourth generation of the Animal Crossing franchise.

Oh! And speaking of Pocket Camp, there will be a new event promoting the forthcoming paid DLC later this month. [2]

Animal crossers, please rise for a newer horizon! [22]

But before some of us put the occupation of a vacation home designer on our video game-based CVs, let us see what Version 2.0 has to offer to keep the experience fresh. The rehash of the museum’s coffee shop with some new aspects, including a vintage telephone for compatibility with amiibo cards and figures to invite other characters to a coffee break and Harriet who will offer some new hairstyles at Harv’s Island will increase New Horizons’ faithfulness to the success of Let’s Go To The City [14] [15]. There is also a rehash of travelling with Kapp’n to Tortimer Island in New Leaf and Animal Island in Population Growing [5] [6] [15], which shows that an animal crosser can explore mysterious new islands in different climates and times of the day. More new features include:

  •         Two new modes for taking photographs [15]
  •         A group stretching activity [15]
  •         Four different ordinances [15]
  •         An even bigger storage capacity [15]

To top it all off deliciously, an animal crosser’s avatar will soon be skilled at cooking. These new features in the last big free content update of the base game will go so well with what the paid expansion will have to offer when it comes to spending the last two months of 2021 well [18].

More new features include a section of emotions to express, new exterior designs and lifestyle tips from the Island Life 101 app. How Version 2 has more to offer will be sure to further increase the game’s ambition for our dear animal crossers in the franchise’s fourth generation. [15]

Oh, and that is not all! The fifth series of Animal Crossing amiibo cards will be released on the same date [23]. Some of them include brand new characters who will appear in New Horizons Version 2.0 [3]. [23]

The premise of the paid DLC is basically a surprise sequel to Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, which was a spin-off of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for the Nintendo 3DS [13]. Wearing a new tropical island equivalent of the uniform from that spin-off, the player and their avatar will be in charge of designing a fantastic vacation home for villagers. For the best results, the theme of the dream home ought to suit the desires of the villager. For example, Doc would want to read books in a vibrant children’s library. The resort can be even more civilised with customisable facilitates, such as a school and a restaurant, just like in Happy Home Designer. I am aware that Happy Home Designer received criticism for its very little challenge and how slightly unrewarding the experience was at times [24], but I think that fact that Happy Home Paradise is a downloadable expansion for New Horizons instead of its own stand-alone spin-off will always allow an animal crosser to stride right back into the base game’s more progressive gameplay standards. Additionally, the results of working as a vacation home designer appear to be more rewarding as there is payment doing a great job.

Yes, I know that I am British and I am supposed to use British names for certain things, but there were missed opportunities to refer to The Sims 2: Apartment Life as “The Sims 2: Flat Life” and nickname Go Vacation “Go Holiday” just before their release dates in the United Kingdom [1] [7] [11] [12] [30]. [18]

I just wonder what personalities will the upcoming villagers have, including Sasha, Shino, Quinn and Petri [3]. I do not doubt that the themes of their dream homes may provide some hints on what they are. [18]

Aside from how future content for New Horizons might as well be available in expansion packs [17] [18], the gameplay within the experience of building homes for villagers with different interests is nice and casual. There is a wide range of customisation when it comes to building the best vacation homes for many villagers, including:

  •         Changing the perimeter of the room [18]
  •         Changing the colour and brightness of lighting [18]
  •         Using partition walls to divide space [18]
  •         Altering the season and time of day outside [18]
  •         Adding realistic sound effects [18]
  •         Letting two clients share a vacation home [18]

As a part-time cleaner and volunteer at a charity shop, I think the option to polish furniture to maintain great conditions would make the experience more relatable to me. What makes Happy Home Paradise seem even more rewarding compared to Happy Home Designer is how the exclusive interior design techniques, including polishing furniture can be used to enhance the red-nosed ranger’s home in the base game [13] [18]. The way an animal crosser can invite a resident of the main island to the resort after he or she asks for a vacation home or remodel their standard homes further proves how the premise seems to work better as an expansion pack rather than a stand-alone spin-off.

It will be about time we can treat the loveable characters with notable occupations by giving them their own vacation homes with the help of any amiibo cards featuring them, including Isabelle and the twins. [18]

There will also be an application exclusively available after the installation of Happy Home Paradise. It is named “Happy Home Network” and it will provide access to images of vacation homes designed by you and other animal crossers worldwide. Another way to interpret modern technology in casual gaming. If there ought to be another expansion pack, I bet there would be another app with a different purpose. [18]

How the amount of ambition put into Animal Crossing: New Horizons will further increase is unmistakable. Its final free content update, a downloadable expansion pack and some new amiibo cards will be available this November after pre-ordering begins just before Halloween [15] [18]. Apart from how impressed I am with what an expansion pack has to offer, I am up for seeing an official sequel to the anime film based on the franchise that was only released in Japan [26]. A sequel to it ought to be released worldwide, featuring notable aspects of New Horizons and available in several other language dubs besides Japanese [29]. It worked for Tomodachi Life, right [21] [30]? More gaming adventures after 2021 await. Who knows what the ninth generation of the Pokémon franchise will bring our Poké players in a new region? Could there be a spin-off of the Dance Dance Revolution franchise with a control panel for hands instead of feet that will be accessible for wheelchair users? As for the fourth generation of the Animal Crossing franchise, I would love to see a new wave of characters in either an underwater village or a heavenly village in the sky in another expansion pack for New Horizons. But until then. Happy paradise designing just after bonfire night [18]!

I believe that another expansion pack for New Horizons ought to introduce the appearances of Moppina, Vicious Vole Vinnie, Hayseed Hilda and the Legal Eagles [27]. [17]

But in the meantime, it will be a pleasure working with Lottie, Wardell and Niko after the special event in Pocket Camp before Halloween [2] [17] [18]. As Don Resetti would say, see ya [14]! [18]

An OLED Upgrade For The Nintendo Switch – Deserving Or Disappointing?

Rumour had it that a new and fairly improved model of the Nintendo Switch would be referred to as the “Nintendo Switch Pro”. We have been waiting for the big reveal since last year. So, what will we get this October in honour of the Switch’s legacy even further? The forthcoming OLED model [6] [11] [13] [18]! Even though I am quite fascinated at what improvements a new model has to offer, I am a little disappointed that there is no official nickname for the OLED model of the Switch yet. Nevertheless, maybe a new official nickname will be announced in its release trailer. Perhaps “Nintendo Switch (OLED Model)” can just be a working title to us, quite like how “Sonic Wild Fire” was a working title for Sonic and the Secret Rings [1]. More importantly, there is a variety of improvements that make the new model highly promising. It has been about over a week since the announcement of the upgrade and it is currently available to pre-order [14], so I guess now this is time for this Nintendo nerd to decide if it is deserving…or disappointing whilst our mobile gamers are racing in the second Los Angeles Tour in Mario Kart Tour [17]. Batter up, Mario!

I know the forthcoming OLED upgrade still highly resembles a default Switch, but an official nickname would make it easier to tell the differences between the two before one of them gets purchased. Metroid Dread and Splatoon 3 are sure to excel during further sales of the OLED model [11]. [6] [18]

The purpose of the new Switch model having an OLED screen is to make the visuals of the game a little more vibrant in both handheld and tabletop mode [12]. The screen is seven inches long, which can make the display of a game even more visually appealing to some players in addition to how the frame around it is narrower [6] [9] [18]. Apparently, the quality of the audio will also be enhanced even further [2] [12], which is another pro when it comes to making the recipe for an outstanding console even sweeter. The joy-cons revealed in the trailer must be frosted white for the sake of competing with the vibes of the beautiful standard and digital versions of the PlayStation 5 [6] [11] [18] [23]. I quite like how they go with a white dock that features an extra port for a new LAN port for steadier online play in TV mode, which is what I am up for when it comes to more enjoyable online gaming experiences [7] [8]. The OLED model will also be available in the original’s model’s usual colour scheme; the black dock, the blue left joy-con and the red right joy-con [7] [8] [27]. Perhaps there can be some light pink joy-cons for all the pink lovers out there sometime after the upgrade’s release.

I quite like the idea of playing a Nintendo Switch game in handheld mode on a wider screen a little more than the idea of differently coloured versions of the Pixel Chix TV toys that feature red liquid-crystal display instead of black [25], similar to the Keitai Kaitsuu Tamagotchi Plus Akai that was only released in Japan [29]. [6] [18]

Creatively enough, if you place the OLED Switch with the blue and red joy-cons into the white dock, the whole thing will resemble the flag of France. Magnifique! [7]

What other enhancements does the OLED model have to offer? Its stand is far wider and more adjustable for tabletop mode, compared to the original’s stand [6] [7] [8] [11] [18]. This is very beneficial for Nintendo nerds who may wish to play in tabletop mode with the screen shown at a variety of different angles, even though there are others who are fine with only being able to play in tabletop at the usual angle achieved by the stand of a regular Switch. There will also be internal storage up to sixty-four gigabytes in the OLED upgrade [2] [9] [27]. That is twice as much storage as the original Switch, which is another plus, especially for those who wish to install some newly bought Switch games without having to sadly erase some data of other games to make room for them. I like these new advantages as they will provide more credibility for the OLED upgrade. I am quite glad that we are getting a new version of the regular Switch with an OLED screen rather than an upgrade of the Switch Lite since the Lite’s permanent handheld mode contradicts the meaning of Nintendo’s eighth-generation console being called the “Switch”, although I am up for a few more new colours for the Switch Lite [9].

I already prefer the OLED model’s stand as it also looks more stable. [7]

Considerably, there would be a need for second editions of kits within the Nintendo Labo series for the OLED model’s wider screen [9]. For Labo VR, the side for fitting the lenses into the VR set and the opposite side for various attachments would need to be wider for the screen as part of the OLED edition increasing the appeal of the Labo series [16]. For the variety kit, it looks like a certain cute creature will be a bigger Toy-Con house to keep up with OLED vibes on a wider screen [15]. Similarly, how I wish the Pixel Chix franchise would have continued with slightly bigger versions of the one-story houses named “Pixel Chix Livin’ Larger" [3]. As for the rest of the variety kit, I am pretty sure the piano keys in the Toy-Con Piano for the OLED edition can be wedged in a little frame [15]. Surely, the name of some new editions of the Nintendo Labo series exclusively for the OLED upgrade of the Nintendo Switch may be titled “Nintendo Labo OLED”. It would be strongly recommended that there will be editions of all Labo Kits designed specifically for the OLED model due to its wider screen and narrower frame if Nintendo wants the cardboard creation system to stay relevant [15] [16] [27].

Me and my predictions for gaming in the future, eh? I still stand by how new editions of Labo products ought to be fit for the OLED’s model’s wider screen. [15]

Overall, I do believe some Nintendo nerds will prefer the OLED model for specific reasons [6] [11] [18], but I can understand by others are slightly disappointed and would have liked some different upgrades, such as a better joy-con drift. Furthermore, they would probably prefer to check out a completely new gaming system soon, such as Panic’s Playdate and Valve’s Steam Deck [4] [19] [20] [21] [33] [34]. However, I am up for a sequel to Super Mario Odyssey possibly titled “Super Mario Odyssey 2”, even if it is noticeably associated with enhancing the cred of the OLED model after its release [10]. Such a concept brought into action ought to feature some new features, quite like how Moss: Book II might as well feature Quill demonstrating more words and phrases in American Sign Language [22] [24] [31] [32]. So, how about we all continue to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Donkey Kong, the arcade game that was the very beginning of the red-hatted plumber’s legacy when he was simply referring to as “Jumpman” [5] [30]? Watch out for those blasted barrels! As for the OLED upgrade of the Nintendo Switch, I still like the idea of the blue and red joy-cons attached to the screen whilst it is wedged in a white dock, making the console resemble the French flag [7] [8]. Au revoir, fellow gamers!

As previously, the official nickname for the upgrade might be established in its release trailer. Nonetheless, I think we can just call it the “OLED Switch”. Whether you want to pre-order the new OLED model or wish to stick to the original Switch or the Switch Lite, you can still enjoy playing the most acclaimed Switch games as much as Talking Tom players enjoy playing My Talking Angela 2 [28]. [7]

Scalpers, no scalping! Scalpers, no scalping! Scalpers, no scalping [26]! [7]
