Another Top Ten Kart Designs in Mario Kart Tour

There is quite a lot to look forward to in 2023, including Final Fantasy XVI, a new episode of Helluva Boss, Hazbin Hotel and the seventh season of Totally Spies [24] [25] [40] [41] [48]. Last year, I made my own Top Ten list titled “Top Ten Kart Designs in Mario Kart Tour” to discuss which kart designs I adore the most [55] [57]. Throughout the tours in Mario Kart Tour in 2022, many new kart and glider designs came to the tracks, bringing out some more creativity throughout the app’s run [36] [43] [44] [46]. As always, you do not have to unlock any of the karts, gliders, and costumes for characters in the game to admire them [42] [43] [44] [55] [57]. To this day, the app is still receiving criticism for the prices within its microtransactions, which makes it seem still greedy and no wonder why I have not spent a penny on it [13] [36]. Speaking of not having to unlock a kart to admire it, I believe now is the time to make another Top Ten list to express even more admiration for the creativity put into the kart designs [44]. Without further ado, let us race through another Top Ten Kart Designs in Mario Kart Tour by yours truly.
Just like my previous Top Ten Mario Kart Design list [55] [57], this one is all based on my opinions. I would be interested in seeing yours. [47]
10. Star-Spangled Flyer
From the first Los Angeles Tour back in September 2020, this kart is great for celebrating the 4th of July if you are an American Nintendo nerd [36] [44] [46]. Not only does its exterior resemble the American flag but there is a blue star with little white ones that are displayed as if there were cutie marks on a pony’s flank in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic to further boost the 4th of July cred [31]. It would especially suit Mario in the Golf Tour outfit from the third Los Angeles Tour [36] [42]. I just wonder if there will be a British flag equivalent for British Nintendo nerds in a new London Tour [46]. Alternatively, perhaps there could be an Australian flag equivalent that would be suitable for Australian Nintendo nerds in a new Sydney Tour.

9. Coral Jet Cruiser
Do you adore cruise ships and the colour pink? This kart would be parked up your alley [44]. To feel like a royal VIP across the sea when racing in this design, especially when racing as Princess Daisy in her sailor uniform or her swimwear or Sailor Toadette from the Ocean Tour [36] [46], you could have the Glittering Parasol from the Singapore Tour as the glider [43]. I would sense those Barbie and Polly Pocket vibes if I were to race in this design [1] [50], especially if it goes with the Starry Great Sail from the first Sydney Tour [43]. And of course, those who are not particularly fond of pink can stick to the regular Jet Cruiser. Other than that, I believe there could be a yellow or orange version of the Jet Cruiser primarily for Daisy and Baby Daisy in a new Summer-themed tour.

8. Cream Cat Cruiser
Cream-coloured kitties are precious, aren’t they? This cream-coloured equivalent of the Cat Cruiser from Mario Kart 8 debuted in the 2022 Cat Tour back in June [33] [36] [44] [46]. There is also a green equivalent that would most likely be steered by Cat Luigi [38] [44], but perhaps the idea of a green cat would be a little too surreal for cat owners, even though that kind of sounds like something I would include in a poem or an original short story [56]. I guess there could be a Calico Cat Cruise in the next Cat Tour as the Calico Toe-Bean Balloons debuted in the Animal Tour back in November and Calico Parafoil from the first Cat Tour [36] [43]. That could also lead to Princess Daisy finally getting her own cat suit, even though she was never playable in Super Mario 3D Land [38].

7. Watermelon Kart
This kart is the template of Apple Kart coated in a watermelon collage. This juicy design quenched a racer’s thirst for a race in the Ocean Tour [36] [44] [46]. It might also satisfy your appetite if you love watermelon-flavoured treats, such as a watermelon-flavoured Chupa Chups lollipop and its soda can counterpart [9] [21] [53], but please do not try to eat it literally. And speaking of the Apple Kart, thank goodness there is no Annoying Orange kart [6] [7]. Instead, there could be a kart that resembles a peach in a new tour, which would be peachy for Princess Peach. There were a purple poison apple kart and a golden apple kart as my previous Number Three [55] [57], but here is a WATERMELON that is a pretty good design for a kart to me [2].

6. Ice-Cream Minibus / Chocolate Banana Minibus
Two fantastic flavours from the Sundae Tour back in August [36] [44] [46]. I just could not choose only one of them for the Number Six spot. Additionally, there are two pairs of balloons that resemble ice cream cones as gliders: the Mint & Berry Balloons and the Vanilla & Chocolate Balloons [43]. What if the kart designs came from the Ice Cream Planet from that episode of Rolie Polie Olie [49]? I am up for another Ice Cream Minibus design based on other flavours, as long as none of them will be based on ketchup-flavoured and mayonnaise-flavoured ice cream [15]. Furthermore, make sure you have not eaten too much actual ice cream before racing, especially chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce. I would not want any of my fellow Mario Kart racers to suddenly get kartsick.

5. Sweet Ride
The Sweet Ride from the Metropolitan Tour and its gold counterpart from the Battle Tour came in the resemblance of a pastry bag [36] [44] [46]. I just love the word “Sweet” printed on the front in a sophisticated chocolate font. Moreover, its design not only gives the term “sweet ride” a new meaning but also provides a double meaning [51]. There is also the Strawberry Soft Swerve, its quirkily colourful counterpart from the Sundae Tour that makes me imagine Tiffi from the Candy Crush franchise driving it [17] [18] [19] [20] [36] [44]. Again, they have let infants drive in the Mario Kart series since Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, right [5] [34]? The overall design of the Sweet Ride is a unique food-themed specimen of a kart as part of the deliciousness of the Metropolitan Tour [36] [44] [46]. Yum!

4. Cupid’s Arrow
During its debut in the third Los Angeles Tour, the Cupid’s Arrow was undoubtfully fit for racing on Valentine’s Day [36] [44] [46]. Other than Baby Peach in her adorable cherub outfit from the Valentine’s Tour [42], I can briefly imagine C.A. Cupid from the Monster High and Ever After High franchises steering this lovely thing [12] [29]. So what if she attends two high schools and looks like a teenager? They let babies drive in the Mario Kart series, right [5]? As much as I do not doubt that the next batch of Valentine’s Day-themed Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss merchandise will seduce my fellow hazbeans [26] [27], the Cupid’s Arrow could just win a Mario Kart racer’s heart [36] [44] [46] Perhaps for the next Valentine’s Tour, there can be a gold version of Cupid’s Arrow, along with a pink version of the Rambi Rider primarily for Candy Kong if she were to become a racer after so long [55] [57].

3. Star Broom
From the heights of the Sky Tour alongside the Magma Broom [36] [44] [46], this kart would be fit for a fan of the Harry Potter franchise…but on one specific condition these days [14] [30]. I adore the pattern of stars in the bristles as it would possibly be a pattern on a new outfit for Rosalina [42]. The kart’s design would also be ideal for competing in a course set in the evening. I know what you are thinking. Shouldn’t be it able to fly without a glider because it looks a lot like a broomstick? Well, it would at least go well with the Dream Glider, considering it also resembles a broomstick [43]. There will be no need to stick your hand out and say “Up!” if you have unlocked this kart or any of the other two brooms [14].

2. Flowery Badwagon
This beauty from the Ocean Tour is not only also fit for a florist but also a fan of Princess Daisy [36] [44] [46]. It also debuted in the Ocean Tour as the signature kart for Princess Daisy in her sailor uniform, consisting of summery vibes, especially with a sunflower at the left side of its window like the rose at the left side of the Rose Taxi’s window [55] [57]. What could be next? A Peach-themed Festival Girl [55] [57]? A pink gold version of the Glinting Glider [43]? The first-person mode from Mario Kart 7 being given a second chance [32]? The Daisy Glider that debuted in the Flower Tour in May 2020 would go so well with the Flowery Badwagon [36] [44] [46]. Furthermore, the kart design’s floral vibes are why it deserves my Number Two spot.

Honourable Mention 1. Sleigh Rider
The Christmas equivalent of the Prancer that was previously mentioned in my previous Number Two spot. What could the names of the brown horses be? Dasher and Dancer? Donner and Blitzen [16]?

Honourable Mention 2. Sakura Quickshaw
A sucker for sakura? This pretty thing would be ideal for you and Peach in her yukata [42] [44], especially if its glider will be the Sakura Origami Glider [43].

Honourable Mention 3. Jukebox Buggy
What can I say? This kart is a jukebox [44]! Well, at least not the type that is basically a child in a cardboard box who sings a Busted song incorrectly for a pound [28].

Honourable Mention 4. Yellow 8-Bit Pipe Frame
It was undeniably outstanding how the classic visuals of Super Mario Kart were adapted in the Super Mario Kart Tour [55] [57]. But still, this kart debuted in the Mii Tour, despite its 8-Bit style [44]. I just had to make the 8-Bit Pipe Frame’s yellow counterpart an honourable mention. As an admirer of ‘90s nostalgia, I would love to see another Super Mario Kart Tour with sprites of Luigi, Peach and Yoshi [55] [57].

Honourable Mention 5. Choco Macharon
This chocolate equivalent of the Macharon was mentioned in my previous list of honourable mentions [44] [55] [57]. Could this inspire the future of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory without the unnecessary addition of a cat and a mouse [52]?

Honourable Mention 6. Coconut 1
Behold! The tropical equivalent of Egg 1 from Mario Kart DS [35] [44]. I just love the pink hibiscus flowers at the side. I just wonder if there will be a Coconut 2 that consists of blue flowers.

Honourable Mention 7. Flower Kart
Fit for a florist, this kart can let a racer’s competitive spirit bloom [44], even though it could suddenly attract bees that could ask them if they like jazz [4].

1. Purple Bunny
This is without a doubt another one of my favourite kart designs in Mario Kart Tour [36]. Just look at its utter cuteness, along with its festiveness for Easter from the second Yoshi Tour [44] [46]! Despite that, you can tell it would fit Nabbit who became a racer in the Wild West Tour back in Summer 2020 because of its purple ears at the back [36] [44] [46]. My fiancé knows how much I adore bunnies, especially when it came to catching MIPS in Super Mario 64 [37]. Putting the Purple Bunny at the top of the list is pretty fitting since 2023 is the year of the rabbit [10] [22] [23]. Aside from how its gold counterpart from the third Yoshi Tour and the Bright Bunny from the first Yoshi Tour [36] [44] [46], I just wonder if there will be a pink counterpart of the Purple Bunny in a new Easter Tour, especially for Princess Peach and Toadette. Now that would be considered another favourite of mine!

So, this concludes my second list of favourite kart designs in Mario Kart Tour. I still consider Mario Kart Tour to be Nintendo’s Marmite [8] [55] [57]. You either love it or hate it. Besides, I am not encouraging anyone to spend so much currency on the app just for new karts, gliders and drivers as I know there are more important things to spend it on in life, such as bills [13]. Remember the Repo Man’s psychotic laughter from The Sims 2 [3]? As for the Mario Kart franchise, I do not doubt that our Nintendo nerds will be hyped for the courses in the Fruit Cup, the Boomerang Cup, Feather Cup, Cherry Cup, the Acorn Cup and the Spiny Cup in the next three waves of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass [45]. I am also curious to see what new kart and glider designs will debut in new tours in the greedy but fully functional mobile game [36] [43] [44]. I also strongly recommend a new mode that brings back the collaboration between two characters during a race from Mario Kart: Double Dash!![34]. I am about to try and earn another gold trophy now. Best of luck in the next tour after the New Year’s Tour, Mario Kart racers [39] [46] [47]! Beep beep!
There is creativity and proactivity that awaits us throughout 2023, fellow gamers [11] [24] [25]! I will be sure to keep striving, despite a somewhat bad start of the new year [54]. [39]
